The course provides the general and specific skills necessary to obtain the European Train Driver’s License pursuant to the Legislative Decree. 247/2010

Course description

The aim of this course is to provide the necessary training to personnel who have made a direct request or through delegation to an IF/GI, to acquire the skills required to:

  • the knowledge and practice of railway techniques, safety principles, and the philosophy underlying the operating regulations;
  • The knowledge of procedures related to the risks associated with railway operations and the different means available to manage them.
  • The knowledge and practice of the basic principles of one or more operating modes.
  • The knowledge and practice of train composition, the technical requirements of locomotives, wagons, carriages, and other vehicles.

The duration of the training course is 18 days, excluding the Certification exam for the professional requirement.

The requirements for access to the course are as follows:

  1. To have completed the 18th year of age, provided that no additional certificate for use in cross-border services between EU member states can be issued until the completion of the 20th year of age.
  2. To have obtained a secondary school diploma or a vocational training diploma as per Chapter III of Legislative Decree. 17/10/2005, n. 226;
  3. For those who have obtained qualifications equivalent to the ones mentioned above in a country other than Italy, they must possess certification of knowledge of the Italian language in accordance with the current legislation for the issuance of the Certificate.
  4. Physical and psycho-attitudinal fitness as indicated in Annex III to Legislative Decree 247/2010.
